Well, since no one has posted anything here recently, and my specialty is concept art, I thought I would post a few of my favorite concept art sites for your perusing.

The Character Design Blog
http://characterdesign.blogspot.com/
This blog follows industry professionals, interviews them, and shows art samples of their work. It's a great site. It'll even post rows upon rows of storyboards from various movies. Right now they have some great posts on the concept art behind the Pixar movie, UP. I also really enjoy the articles about sculpting they have up there.

iDrawDigital
http://www.idrawdigital.com/
This site goes out and finds all the awesome and recent digital art tutorials for you.

ConceptArt.org
http://www.conceptart.org/
A great gallery of concept art and a wonderful message board of professionals to help you improve.

If you have any suggestions of sites for me, then feel free to post them. They would be much appreciated!

Contest Subject: Create your own unique superhero from concept to full 3d textured model !!!!!

(for example no wolverine or already created characters, but like super Simulation Box Cube making Man!!! or something, make it cool and fun)

Rules for Concept: Create and post a final colored drawing for your concept under your post then the finished renders of your superhero finished. Posing is up to you.

Rules for Modeling:
Use any weapon of choice, just make it cool to post up on here. "Any Weapon" meaning Maya, 3dsMax, Blender, Modo even Multigen Creator can come sit at the big kids table.

Rules for Texturing: Whatever makes it look cool, size of the maps matters not, first contest so go all out. Color, Normal, Alpha, Specular etc maps whatever. Use Photoshop, Corel Painter, crayon whatever.

Have fun on the first super mega smack down contest. I noticed that the last post here was 2006, and since this is labeled 3D Contests and Film Festivals Ill put it here for now.

Contest ends at last day of July, then if everything went well? Then keep on keeping on.

  Good luck!!!

I was throwing ideas around and I always have this local grass roots site in the back of my mind as really the only outlit locally Huntsville, Alabama has to talk about, show CG. I know Huntsvilles known for its Simulation more or les then any other CG. I wanted to know if it was cool with everyone to throw some fun 3d contests locally. Maybe that would help keep everyones skills sharp, compete against eachother? Throw together ideas or just show the love and passion for the industry we're in. I dont know about sponsers for prizes or anything, more or less I can see it just for rep points in the local community? So far the people I have talked to would be into it. I wanted to know what you guys on the forums and of course Wayne (being his site and all) thought of this and open it for disscussion. Let me know and we can go from here.
